4.30.14- Loyalists

2.) I'm probably most like Lord Dunmore, even though I wouldn't be a loyalist.

Loyalist: Hello, my fellow loyalist.
Me: Hello. Are you Lord Dunmore from Scotland?
Loyalist: I am indeed. My real name is John Murray from the royal Scottish family.
Me: Intriging. Why did you decide to come to the colony of Virginia?
Loyalist: In 1771, King George III appointed me for the royal governor. I couldn't very well reject his generous offer.
Me: Of course. What a honor.
Loyalist: Well, yes. But when I started my ruling time, a group that calls themselves the Patriots boycotted and rejected our fair rule.
Me: That is why I'm a loyalist. The British were so fair and protective over us.
Loyalist: I agree entirely. If they spend too much time biting the hands that feed them, they'll end up with nothing, or death.
Me: I'm glad someone can see sense. They are traitors, plain and simple. I must bid you farewell.
Loyalist: Goodbye.

We didn't finish in time.

4.28.14- A Short Play

A play about chapter 11. I did it myself because Lydia left early (doctors appointment)
Characters
Loyalist
Patriot
Neutral colonist

Setting: American colonies in a courtroom

Situation: The neutral colonist has to support the Patriots or Loyalists.

In a courtroom
Neutral: I don't want to have a side. If I do, it'll create drama and I just don't know. Why should I choose a side?
Loyalists: Well, remember that the British did everything for you. You wouldn't be here without them. You own something to them, and you should pay it back now.
Patriots: but it's your life. Yes, the British were extremely generous and caring, but if you aren't happy, then it's not your job to fill someone's happiness.
Neutral: Maybe I do owe them something..
Patriot: But at this point they aren't the caring, kind British rulers that you met in the beginning of the colonies.
Loyalists: in the end, it's up to you. But the loyalists will benefit from all this, and the patriots might die.
Patriots: give me liberty or give me death.
Neutral: I have a decision to make.
(Spoiler: they choose patriots. :) )

4.25.14- AHW

can I just start with TGIF because I think we all needed to say that.
We just finished another criterion test, which we take a lot tbh. I'm doing my AHW because I have time and I already finished the test. Oh we got new seats too I sit next to Marc and Sam which is okay for a seat but I sit on the inside of the circle area, which isn't that great of a seat.
I'Yana's getting a call home and I have to do something at the end so cue hsm
we're all in this togetherrrr 💃
This emoji actually looks like it's from hsm like okayy?¿? 💃💃
It's been 6 minutes but I have nothing left to do so let's keep the update. mrs. p keeps looking at me and I wanna ask if she'll stop staring when I'm not looking but maybe that'd be rude or she'd deny deny deny ✋
I have no more updates but it's 8:58 and idk what I'm doing next
Hopefully writing the test and this pays off because this week it seems like nothing is
well bye

4.23.14

Mark Morawski, principal

April 23rd, 2014

Helen D, student

Dear Mr. Mark Morawski,
My name is Helen and I have discovered a problem at my school, BCS.

The girls locker rooms are terrible quality and standard for the expected level that BCS offers. That makes it difficult and unsafe in the locker rooms.
Girls in the locker rooms can slip and fall due to the poor upkeep. In January 2014, a girl in my swim class fell and hit her head extremely hard. She had a concussion scare, and this has happened many times before to my friends and myself. Also, as of writing this letter, a dryer in the locker room has open buttons and the spring and heat is out in the open, which could injure someone terribly.
If this continues, people could get seriously injured, as they/I have before. It's not safe, and it could strongly negatively affect someone.
As a solution, we should get new, improved dryers in the place of our current bad quality ones.
We should also put a safety waterproof mat to cover the floor so less people fall and hurt themselves.  We could also improve the shower heads and shower area, as it is unsafe and bad quality.
If we change these problems, not only would it be safer, but more people would come to BCS for the pool and locker rooms.
Overall, the girls locker rooms at Covington should be improved for our safety and others.
Sincerely,
Helen D

4.14.14- Break Journal Entry

I'm doing choice A.
So I'm just writing about one night.
So I went to Samurai Steakhouse, which is one of those places where they cook it in front of you with the fire on the stove and stuff. I went for Kylee's birthday with her and me and her friend Nicole. It was good.
Here's a picture of that:

Then we got these glow things, where you blow up a beach ball and put a glowstick in it. (😂)

I posted a video of it on iG but my account is private (helexhere)

I don't have any pictures of anything else I did then, but this was on Saturday (12th, her bday) so now break is over. Great.

4.2.14- AHW/Ford Freedom Essay 2014

**This is my ford freedom essay.**
What is Your Cliff?
Everything  you  do  requires  motivation.  Some  people  say  the  hardest  part  of  doing  anything  is  starting.  But  I'd  disagree.  I  think  the  hardest  part  of  persevering  through  something  is  to  keep  going,  no  matter  how  old  you  are.  To  tell  yourself  to  keep  working  towards  your  goal,  and  to  never  give  up.  I've  been  through  many  times  where  I  wanted  to  give  up.  But  today  I'm  just  focusing  in  on  one  time.
I  was  standing  on  a  cliff.  Well,  it  seemed  like  a  cliff  when  I  was  only  6  years  old.  Everyday  at  recess  I  would  stand  on  the  play  structure  and  watch  other  kids  slide  down  the  pole  and  run  off  with  their  friends.  And  everyday  I  would  try  and  fail  to  do  it  myself.  I  knew  I  could  do  it.  Everyone  else  in  my  class  could,  and  why  couldn't  I?
It  seemed  like  the  biggest  thing  in  my  life  at  the  time.  So  one  day,  I  decided  I  would  do  it.  I  would  face  my  fears  and  slide  down  the  pole  at  the  top  of  the  play  structure  to  the  ground.  This  involved  enlisting  the  help  of  my  best  friends  and  watching  them  slide  down  and  around  to  the  ground.  Once  I  was  worked  up  enough  to  do  it  myself,  I  stepped  up  to  my  own  personal  cliff.  The  wind  on  that  spring  day  was  picking  up,  so  my  hair  blew  up  around  my  face  while  I  grasped  onto  the  handle  as  if  it  was  my  last  and  only  hope.  Behind  me,  my  friends  cheered  and  called  out  advice.  After  a  minute  or  two  of  contemplating  my  options,  I  held  to  the  pole  even  tighter.  In  one  swift  move,  I  lifted  off  the  platform  and  wrapped  around  the  pole.  I  started  spinning  fast  around  the  pole,  and  my  heart  sped  up  just  as  fast.  My  friends  still  stood  at  the  top  of  platform  excitedly  while  I  flew  down  to  the  ground  in  one  quick  movement.  When  I  reached  the  ground,  I  set  my  little  decorated  Twinkle  Toes  shoes  on  the  ground  and  jumped  up  and  down  on  the  wood  chips.  I  had  actually  done  it.  I  had  jumped  off  my  cliff,  and  even  though  it  was  the  most  normal  thing  that  anybody  could  do,  it  was  wildly  impacting  for  me.  I  didn't  just  go  down  a  pole,  I  boosted  my  confidence  as  well.  Even  as  a  6  year  old,  you  have  your  own  goals,  and  reaching  them  feels  worth  it.
That's  my  story.  That's  my  personal  cliff.  I  think  that  everyone  has  their  own  cliff,  and  everyone  has  different  things  that  scare  them,  or  take  effort  to  achieve.  So,  I  ask  you,  what  is  your  cliff?

4.1.14- AHW

Happy April fools day!! Alot of people today tried to pull pranks or whatever, but they make it too obvious. I think the best one so far was I'Yana's. She colored a tissue red and said she had a bloody nose and it actually worked.. So applause to I'Yanta. 👏 good luck to anybody else byee
