5.30.13- Essay

5.29.13- Body Paragraph + Works Cited + Intro

Cause and Effect

Introduction
Can you imagine living in a world without music? Music is sometimes taken for granted. Music is sometimes considered useless. But in reality, music does more than you think. It can change your mood or idea in a heartbeat. Music is important. It can get a message out, it can change your mood, it can support you, it can do countless things! I quote Langston Hughes,

“Life is for the living.
Death is for the dead.
Let life be like music.
And death a note unsaid.”

#1 Body Paragraph
Music is important because it can send a certain message because the lyrics can convey a idea or thought. Everyone can connect over music. "Music is a universal language. It inspires common human feelings and bridges gaps between cultures that spoken languages cannot." (ezinearticles) This means that people can connect over many different thoughts. Therefore, the lyrics or tune can send a certain message. "It brings people together and creates universal community." (ezinearticles) In one line or verse, music can express your thoughts in ways that don't require spoken words.

#2 Body Paragraph
Music can change your mood because the lyrics or the rhythm are able to change your thoughts, therefore changing your mood. It makes all kinds of changes. "It can change a difficult mood and make it happy or excited; it can change a light mood and take it deeper and more profound." (ezinearticles) All kinds of music can change your mood in all different ways. It's scientifically proven! "Music can stimulate your body to produce serotonin (the happiness hormone) and so elevate your mood." (2knowmyself) Since music seems to change your mood, scientists researched it and now it is evidentially proven.

#3 Body Paragraph
Music helps the brain learn and be interested in learning. Scientists have even proved it! "It is scientifically proven that music enhances brain functioning. Playing music uses many brain functions simultaneously: motor control, imagination, hearing, sight, memory, etc." (ezinearticles) This means that when you listen to music, your brain is working on all your senses and enhancing them. Music also changes other things. "Music can alter your brain wave pattern." (2knowmyself) In this way, music can change many things about you at any given time, including moods, ideas, and even your brain waves.

Conclusion
All in all, music is valuable and powerful. It is used in all different ways, and causes all different things. If music keeps being created and used, I believe that this world will discover many other kinds of music and develop a better appreciation of music itself.

5.3.13- Home

Today we went to the Rouge River. It was my first time, because I was sick on the day we went in the fall. I was in group #10 with Joseph, Brenden, and Azaria.
Our station order:
Benthic
Physical
Chemical
My favorite was the Benthic station because we got to go into the water with waders. The flow of the stream always felt like it was pulling you down, and when you went deeper in the water, your legs and feet were being squished by the pressure. It felt weird but cool haha.
