Dear Mr. Morawski
My name is Helen and I have discovered a problem at my school, BCS.

The girls locker rooms are terrible quality and standard for the expected level that BCS offers. That makes it difficult and unsafe in the locker rooms.
Girls in the locker rooms can slip and fall due to the poor upkeep. In January 2014, a girl in my swim class fell and hit her head extremely hard. She had a concussion scare, and this has happened many times before to my friends and myself. Also, as of writing this letter, a dryer in the locker room has a open buttons and the spring and heat is out in the open, which could injure someone terribly.
If this continues, people could get seriously injured, as they/I have before. It's not safe, and it could strongly negatively affect someone.
As a solution, we should get new, improved dryers. We should also put a safety waterproof mat to cover the floor so less people fall and hurt themselves.  We could also improve the shower heads and shower area, as it is unsafe and bad quality.
If we change these problems, not only would it be safer, but more people would come to BCS for the pool and locker rooms.
Overall, the girls locker rooms at Covington should be improved.
Sincerely,
Helen D

3.27.14- AHW

I just read Insurgent aka I almost died. I won't post any spoilers tho because the end of the last book was spoiled for me and that is sooo annoying. I'm gonna read Alligent (idk how to spell it) soon even though I already know what happens, I might as well. People think this trilogy is just like the others. But it isn't. But probably everyone says that. So I'm gonna stop saying useless things and say byee

3.24.14- AHW

In science today Mrs. Roberts told us at the end that Microsoft is only giving $3,000, not $10,000. That announcer person misspoke.
That's still reaching our goal, but it's disappointing. Not even just disappointing, Victor and George Sherman were excited, it was on TV, Twitter, everywhere. And now it's not.
I think Microsoft should give $7,000 more not only for the project, but as a apology. It would help their image, because right now it's they gave us 10, then they pulled away 7 of it.
Plus i don't really think Microsoft would miss a $7,000 laying around for poverty in Zambia. Bill Gates? Richest person ever? That's what I thought.
So yup. 5 min over BYEE

This is Lilly and I'Yana. How exciting. They sit at my table. How even more exciting. I took a picture of Fiona but I'Yana wanted a picture of her so here we go. Fiona and Grace are texting from across the room. 😂👏
So that's the update. Not very exciting, but check out my letter of complaint?

3.20.14- AHW

We just took a social studies test and it's a half day so class ends at 9:05. (Which is good.) I have my conference today, I don't know when but I hope it goes well? We have a longer math time today (1 hour and 10 min) which makes no sense. This is rigged. K bye

I listed Veronica Roth as #2 because I love the Divergent series, and her twitter seems fun and relatable for her audience.

Ally Condie is #3 because the Matched trilogy is amazing, and I like her website.

Jeff Kinney is #4 because I enjoyed his series and writing type, but I like #1-3 more.

J.K Rowling is #5 because I've only read some of her work, and enjoyed it, but I'm not sure it was for me.

Note: These are my personal opinions. :)

3.11.14- AHW Snow day?

If you want a snow day tomorrow (which I bet you do) then you have to follow these steps.
1.) wish for a snow day. It's not gonna happen otherwise.
2.) put a white crayon on the windowsill.
3.) sleep with a spoon under your pillow.
4.) sleep with inside-out pj's.
5.) flush some ice cubes.
These totally work. Like, they're proven. So you might as well follow them. :)

3.5.14- Controversial AHW

So I tend to come on here for AHW and write about something I think or want to express my opinion on. I don't think that a bad thing necessarily, because what better way? Yelling in class or trying to change it at school clearly doesn't help, and so this is the second best option? (Maybe not the best, but oh well.)
So Kylee wrote on her blog for AHW tonight (krh1la.blogspot.com) and I wanted to kind of reply to it, but I have to much to say for a comment.
She wrote about what happened in class today, and if you don't know what happened, you don't need to know. Go read hers first btw.
I know everyone knows I'm best friends with kyky, but I have a different opinion. (Sorry ky) Not entirely different, but i think that everything today was blown so far out of proportion, it's ridiculous and slightly unfair for everyone. Why should we have a lose-lose-lose situation? Yes, we had a sub and some guests and we could have had better behavior. Sure. And yes, we were loud and probably obnoxious, also probably rude, but yelling at us and shaming us isn't getting us anywhere in the long run.
If a class does something wrong, a teacher disciplines them. Easier said than done. The wide range of the word 'discipline' ranges from a time-out to actually hurting them. (*IN OTHER PLACES NOT HERE*) some teachers will say, "it's the only way we can get you to listen." Not when you are wasting some of our learning time and assuming the people who did it. Yelling at the entire class is unnecessary, as is assuming who did whatever happened. (Not naming names, but this next person knows who they are if they're reading this) if a teacher lectures a class, and points out clearly who they're blaming, there's really no point to not name them. (Not that they should.) especially if you could ask some students clearly who's blame it is, and it isn't them. What I'm saying is, don't blame people you assume did it. They don't deserve that. And don't blame the entire class.
We have to realize that teachers/subs/higher ranked people are still human. They make mistakes. They're NOT PERFECT. We've been taught to automatically look up to them, and agree, and follow. There comes a point when higher ranked people have to realize the power they show, and that they are perfect. They don't have the same opinion as some (clearly, cause I'm writing this HUGE thing) and it shouldn't be forced on us.
So basically in conclusion, some questions.
Why do kids get the example that discipline is the answer, and then we act surprised when the rebel or do things on the news? They were brought up this way.
When will we accept kids that they have opinions too? Not all are 'young' and 'impressionable' some have thoughts too.

And also, I'm not the only one who thinks this. I'm the only one who actually wants to say it. :)
This was all free hand, and i don't want anyone yelling at me. If you have a different opinion, can for once we just calmly state them? I've seen to much yelling and stressed-ness today.
-Helen

3.3.14

If you haven't noticed, this 2013-2014 winter is one of the coldest winters yet. I happen to know a lot about it, considering I value my life and health. So I think you should know a few things about it too.

First of all, it's the coldest winter we've had since 2000. Plus, it's one of the longest. This winter is so cold and normally below freezing that you're going to want to stay inside.

The first week of March is also only supposed to have one day above freezing. That's not a normal schedule, even for Michigan's weather. Also, even if you've just glanced at the snow outside your window, you can see it's piled high, so high that it's sometimes taller than you!

Overall, this winter is one of the longest and coldest winters ever, and it's not just affecting Michigan.

3.1.14- AHW

I'm gonna write about what I did today. K? K.
So Kylee was there the entire day:

And first we watched Pitch Perfect (A++) and Despicable Me 2 (it was kinda just background noise 😂) THEN THIS IS THE GOOD PART. We went to her house and omg. Omg. I learned to skate! Like ice skating. I wasn't very good and it was freezing out, BUT HEY. I TRIED. (For the record though, she isn't a figure skating status anyway. ;))
One thing I should say, we were together from 9:30 to 6:30.. That's.. 9 hours. Spent well i think. :)
Byeee! What'd you do today?
(NOTE** I didn't go into detail because for the skating part it'd be mostly. "IM SO COLD." And me falling over. But it was really cold.)
